I hope Patrick will continue developing this excellent piece of software for a very long time to come, and make it the most succesful finance software for the mac. Syncing with the equally excellent iOS app is a breeze without having to use a proprietary account, just iCloud. One tiny complaint is that you can’t drill down from your reports to transactions or categories, but Patrick who is a gentleman and a scholar and always responds within a few hours to all questions or suggestions, promised that this is in the plans. The search is absolutely woderful and reporting quite good. My investment account problem went away since SEE has the flexibilty to allow USD investments in non USD accounts. It really is the best in every respect, and where it isn’t, it just makes me look forward to the next version.
This was and is a serious drawback for me, since I often buy USD denominated instruments from an EUR account. My biggest issue however, was the inability to record investment transactions in an account that was in a different currecny to the instrument. Transaction entry was a bit cumbersome, reporting quite flexible and system wide search a bit tricky at the beginning. However, because it was not available on the app store, I had to activate it every time I reset my mac and that is often! Since then I have been using Banktivity (iBank as was its previous name) and I was fairly satisfied. In 2012 I tried SEE Finance and I loved it. Starting with MS Money in the early 90s, Quicken, Moneydance, Moneywiz, Fortora etc. I think I must have used the majority of personal finance applications over the years. Import OFX, QFX, CSV, QIF, and QMTF files iCloud Drive lets you access your files from multiple devices, keeps them secure, and under your control.
